The aim for this small school building in Erstfeld, a picturesque village nestled in the Swiss Alps in the canton of Uri, was to create a simple and functional structure. Two building volumes constructed in single masonry inhabit only the classrooms and group rooms. The sanitary facilities, storage spaces, and circulation areas are built in concrete, seamlessly adjoining the two volumes and connecting them. The architectural simplicity of the building leaves space for its surroundings, allowing the school to resemble a straightforward and practical tool, built for effective use.
